FYF

So I went to FYF Fest for two days and it was everything I wanted it to be.

A few months ago the lineup for the fest was released. I took a quick look over it and in minutes was texting my sister aggressively excited texts to get her to go with me. It didn't take much coercing as her and I have pretty similar music taste. We had tickets in no time and our eyes on the prize headliner, Frank Ocean.

On Friday, day 1 of the fest, we arrived at Exposition Park just in time to see Anderson Paak perform. As expected, he performed with so much heart. My sister and I danced our little hearts out in our matching overall dresses. Afterwards, we saw Missy Elliot perform, and well, its Missy Elliot. So there's that.

On day 2 we woke up with feet still hurting from the night before, a craving for Hawaiian food and Frank Ocean on our minds. Today's the day! I threw more glitter on my face and took to the fest. We got there in time to see Homeshake, who was just as smooth live as they are when I listen on my own. Then we saw Noname perform, she was so cute, but seemed surprised that so many of us showed up. Next we saw MGMT, King Krule, a Tribe Called Quest and last but not least, Frank Ocean. We luckily ended up scoring a pretty good spot to see Frank perform and let me tell you, it was MAGIC. It was an emotional coaster of being so excited and happy you're shaking then tearing up then forgetting to breathe all while singing along to the songs Frank has graced our presence with. After the show was over, the guy we had spent the past few hours with in the crowd said "my life is officially split between pre-Frank Ocean and post-Frank Ocean" and well, I don't think there is really another way to describe it.
